How to Integrate Xero and Push

Introducing our new Xero and Push integration with Xero Accounting. Here is how to integrate Xero and Push in a matter of minutes so you can: 

  1. Automatically export your journal entries from Push to Xero
  2. Reconcile your bank statements from Push to Xero and tag bank statement line items to a particular bill


How do I integrate Xero and Push?

  1. You must be running payroll with Push in order to view Journal Entries
  2. You must also have an existing Xero account
  3. Once you have established the two requirements above, simply contact our support team at support@pushoperations.com and the integration can get started in minutes!
  4. Once our team has confirmed the integration, you will now be automatically export your journal entries to Xero.

Frequently asked questions around how to integrate Xero and Push:

Q: Does Push only export journal entries to Xero?
A: No, Push also exports bills to Xero.

Q:What permissions do I need to export journal entries or export bills to Xero?
A:You must have the ability to run payroll in order to export journal entries to Xero.


Q:Does anything happen when I export a journal entry or bill and make changes to  in Xero?

A:Nothing happens. No changes made in Xero will reflect in Push.

Q:In what case will my changes in Xero be erased?
A:The only time the changes in to your Xero journal entry or bills will be erased is if you re-export (or export the same file again) after making changes in Xero.
Your newest export of the same journal entry or bill will always override your changes.

For example: Yesterday, you have exported a journal entry for the payrun date ending Jan 15th 2019. In that draft journal entry, you have changed the name of a profit center.

However, you've forgotten that you've already exported the file the previous day and you re-export the same journal entry.
The change you made to the name of the profit center of the previous day's export will be overridden.

Q:When and how does journal entry export occur?
A:The export will only occur when you select the "Export to Xero (Manual Journal)" button. Once you've allowed access via Xero, you'll see the journal entry in Xero's drafts in seconds.

A:The export will only occur when you select the "Export to Xero (Bill)" button. Once you've allowed access via Xero, you'll see the journal entry in Xero's drafts in seconds.

Q:Can I set up times for my Journal Entries to be automatically exported?
A:No, you will have to manually search for your desired pay run and its journal entry and click the "Export to Xero" button.

Q:How will I know when Push has access to my Xero account? Can I turn it off?
A:When Push has access to your Xero account, you will see a message at the top of your Journal Entry report. If you had successfully done so in the last 30 mins, you will not see the message again until the 30 minutes has passed.
